Laura A. Barwick, CPA
Laura Barwick founded Barwick CPA in 2011. Laura is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 25 years of accounting, auditing, tax, estate-planning and management advisory experience. Prior to launching Barwick CPA, Laura was a Principal at a mid-sized CPA firm in Towson, Maryland. Laura has a wide range of experience in many industries including construction, manufacturing, distribution, retail, service, premium finance, medical, automotive dealerships and not-for-profit organizations.
In 1992, Laura graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She also received a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Baltimore. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).
In 2003, Laura graduated from The Rainmaker Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, a training academy that teaches CPAs leadership and service skills. She graduated second in her class and received several awards during the three-year program.
Laura currently serves as Treasurer for the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company. When not working, Laura can be found on tennis courts throughout Harford and Baltimore County.
Daniel B Bruce, Jr.
Daniel Bruce joined Barwick CPA in 2011. Prior to joining the firm, Daniel was a Staff Accountant at a mid-sized CPA firm in Towson, Maryland. Daniel has gained a wealth of experience in industries such as construction, manufacturing, distribution, retail, service, premium finance, medical, automotive dealerships, and not-for-profit organizations.
Daniel graduated from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is in the process of pursuing his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license.
Daniel resides in Baltimore County with his wife, two daughters and son. He enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid sports fan that cheers for the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens.
Director of Business Operations
Carl Turner joined Barwick CPA in 2015 as our Director of Business Operations. Carl brings over 20 years of experience in corporate management to our firm. Carl studied Human Services at Liberty University and Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
Carl now resides in Bel Air, Maryland with his family. He enjoys cars, sports, movies and home improvement.
Rosemary “Cookie” O’Hara
Rosemary “Cookie” O’Hara joined Barwick CPA in 2013, with over 25 years of bookkeeping, tax and firm administration experience. Prior to joining the firm, Cookie worked for a local public accounting firm in Perry Hall, Maryland.
In her free time, Cookie and her husband Tom are active volunteers for the Knights of Columbus. She enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren, and enjoys shopping in bulk.
Michael Peter joined Barwick CPA in 2016. Prior to joining the firm, Michael attended Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with a minor in Business Management. While at ENC, Michael was active playing on the golf and soccer team, served on student government, business society and student athletic advisory committee. He was also a dean’s list student and received accolades such as Commonwealth Coast Conference All Academic, named Who’s Who among students for 2016, and named to the National Athletic Honor Society.
Michael is currently pursuing his Certified Public Accountants (CPA) license and enjoys the opportunity to work with people and learn a variety of different skills in the accounting field.
Outside of work, Michael is involved with the Civil Air Patrol where he has over 10 years of experience and is also involved with his local church. He also enjoys snowboarding, hiking and doing just about anything outdoors.
Laurelle Christie joined Barwick CPA in 2017 and bring nearly 25 years of accounting and administration related experience to the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Laurelle had experience in banking, bookkeeping, and hospitality and has held positions such as a certified nursing assistant, treasurer, and administrative assistant.
Laurelle finds satisfaction in having the opportunity to help the firm see through client needs from start to finish. She is a people person, has great organizational skills, the ability to think on her feet and is wonderful with clients.
Laurelle and her husband of 30 years, Rick, have raised their three awesome kids. Outside of work, she is active in her church, where she is a deacon and elder. She also loves to bowl, camp, boat, and spend time with her three grandsons.
Jordan Huna joined Barwick CPA in 2015. Prior to joining the firm, Jordan attended Bel Air High school where he participated in Destination Imagination and placed first at the global finals for the structural challenge. Jordan often says that “accounting is in his blood” since both parents are accountants as well as many other family members. He has been taking classes at Harford Community College and is now enrolled full time at Towson University and plans to become a CPA post-graduation.
As our firm intern, Jordan helps with bookkeeping, audits, compilations, corporate and individual tax, and IT. Jordan finds satisfaction in having the opportunity to learn while still being able to work as a regular employee of the firm. He is organized, easy to work with and loves learning.
In his free time, Jordan enjoys reading, playing video games and working on just about anything.
Elementary School Intern
Chloe Rose assists us during Saturday mornings in tax season with light administrative duties. Chloe enjoys reading, gymnastics and playing outside with her friends. When Chloe grows up, she wants to be a scientist and a teacher. Chloe says that if you put your mind to something, than you can accomplish it.
